More Content Added

Earlier this month we posted that we'd added more information about individual mowers. Now we've added new content about suppliers of spares and services. We'll be happy to add more if any readers have suggestions.

We've also started to add more operating manuals because we know that our members and visitors to the site find these very useful. This is just the start and we have quite a few more to add but it does take time. All of the manuals on this site have been scanned from the original documents and tidied up using graphics programs before we create the PDF and add load them up.

Prizewinning Display

Some members of The Old Lawnmower Club attended the Arlesford Show on Saturday 3 September with a selection of mowers. Each year the organisers of the vintage section at the event award a prize for the best or most interesting display. This year the prize went to the display of mowers. Well done to all the team at the show...

And below, here are some of the mower in the display...

Look Out, Brian's About

He's done it again! Club Member Brian Radam who runs the British Lawnmower Museum in Southport will be appearing on various BBC TV shows over the coming months (and on a TV channel in China).

According to the report in his local paper, Brian has recently been recording for three BBC programmes. One of these is a new "people show" which features members of the public with unusual talents (we assume it's something to do with mowers) and one is the new series from the team that made "The Boat The Guy Built" but this time recreating some more Victorian inventions. And finally, with his colleagues from the mower museum Brian will also be appearing on the Egg Heads quiz show.

Oh, and he's also recorded something for Chinese TV about the history of the mower. We wonder what they will make of it over there?

Over the years Brian has probably featured on more TV and radio shows talking about mowers than any other of our members. Looks like that's set to continue for some time to come...

The photo shows Brian on the left receiving the Club's Andrew Grout Trophy from Robbie Robinson some years ago.
