Collection, Preservation and Display of Old Lawn Mowers

Shay County: In Action

The Shay County was an early rotary mower produced in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Its basic design is similar to modern machines. The engine is mounted centrally on the mower chassis and drives the rotary blade directly through a vertical shaft. There is no drive mechanism which means the mower must be pushed along at all times. It is very unusual to find a mower like this restored, in working condition and on display at a vintage event.
