Ransomes Minor 18 Mk 7 Cylinder refurb

Hi,

I've been hankering after a 3ft Dennis mower from 1936 all my life, having used one as a teenager on the estate I grew up on.  For the size of my lawn I decided that a smaller mower would be sensible and the Ransomes from the 1950's looks good.

Anyhow I've just bought this classic Villiers engine mower. It is starting OK / cutting OK and seems to be collecting the grass in the box and it is a whole lot of fun.  Air box was a bit loose so I've shimmed that up.

I'm going to give her a respray in the late Autumn.

I took the spark plug off and dressed the blade with a sharpening stone but a couple of them seem quite blunt on the cylinder.  How much does it cost for a grind in this area?  I'm in Oxfordshire and I think quite a few members are from Northamptonshire here..

Also I've seen a unused Marquis 18" cylinder.  Does anyone know if they are interchangable?

Cheers

Tim

I have just changed the shaver blade - thanks Richard for supplying the new blade! It is cutting very well now... The throw into the collector is even better..

Does anyone know where you can get the action springs from?

It took an absolute age to impact drive the old screws out. Only two came out, the other middle 4 got drilled out.

Does anyone know if the Marquis cylinder will fit a Minor Mk 7?
