Fuelling problem

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

Atco hd 24 was running fine, then would not start, I took off the float chamber to find the float had fuel on the inside, found the pinhole and made a repair, engine running fine, 2 weeks later no fuel to carb, took out the float it has a small amount of fuel inside again, there is no evidence of any pinholes ect is I cannot get the fuel out. I suspect I can get a new float but I have no engine details other than the make Tecumseh, my local mower shop in France wanted details so he could source one but with no engine details it's a no go. Can anyone help or advise. Thanks in advance. Jb.

I think your engine will be a Tecumseh H50, H60 or HH60, the number is stamped into the airshroud  (the thing the starter bolts to) on the top, adjacent to the sparkplug. I also think the partnumber of the float is 632019 (but don't hold me to it)

Hi John I noticed from your profile that you are in Bellac - I know the area very well as I have a house nearby in Dompierre-Les-Eglises!

Have you tried the Maximum yard at Mailhac-Sir-Benaize (it is much bigger than the Maximum shop in Bellac) - they always have a good selection of old mowers for sale outside many suitable for parts you might find something with a Techumesh engine there. Most are very cheap.

You probably know the address but just in case the website is: www.associationmaximum.com have bought a lot of good stuff from there over the years including three old mopeds for €20 each two of which are runners!

Also I think the garage at Le Beauvert near Dompierre les Eglises repairs and sells mowers or at least it used to (it is an interesting place too - the workshop has some dusty old classic cars that haven't moved for over a decade - a Simca 1000; Peugeot 504 coupe; Porsche 924 from recollection). They once fixed the year linkage on an old Rover after we drove all the way from Orleans stuck in 3rd gear after a c-clip got dislodged!
