Dulson Lawnmaster

Found an image on my laptop that I must have downloaded a few years back as it was a mower I could not readily identify.

With the help from Keith (Club President) and a further bit of digging it appears to be  'The Dulson Lawnmaster' 12in.

Earliest advertisement I have so far is 1946, with a 1953 ad seen below with the all important image.

The mower shown in the photograph does appear to have the wrong grass box which I doubt would fit!

The mower was manufactured by Dulson Associated Products Limited (Lawn mower manufacturers) of Dudley, Worcs, the business was liquidated in 1960.

The 1953 ad is interesting as it states the retailer has just made a bulk purchase of Dulson's and has 275 available, perhaps this was the existing stock being sold off by the manufacturer? With the price of the mower being less than a Qualcast Panther it was probably inevitable that a small manufacturer would struggle to make a profit?

Does anyone have a Dulson or can remember seeing one?

I do have a dulson at the back of the shed. Believe it's a "Detachable 12". What that means I'm not sure. It's at the back of a shed I won't have seen it for at least a decade. Will see if I can get at it next week when I'm home.

Excellent, of all the collectors in all the world, thought you might have one, looks like some may have had a lift out cassette like the Maxees?

Hi Clive, I'm not quite sure what you're saying. Were the 275 mowers you mention the total number ever built / in circulation ?

No, it was a retailers ad (see above) that stated they had just made a bulk purchase & that only 275 Dulsons are available, not clear if the bulk purchase was 275 or that was the total produced, I assume the former. If they did buy that number from the manufacturer it may have been the start of the insolvency?
