Webb 2 Speed Grass Box Decal

Hi folks. I have a Webb 2 Speed mower that was produced between 1947 and 1954, fitted with Pram Handles and also the Lawn Edger attachment. I am trying to find out which decal would have been on the Grassbox as I need to get one. None of the literature I have for the mower show a front view of the Grassbox. Any help gratefully received. Hopefully Clive G. might have some promotional material for this model. 

Are there any remains on the machine itself to give a clue ? Pre-war models tended to have a similar overall transfer design, different colour schemes identifying a particular model as well as a name in some cases. 

Ultimately if no information is forthcoming we may at least be able to suggest something plausible if not strictly speaking correct. It would of course be far preferable to avoid the risk of misleading future researchers and restorers.

Hi Colin. Thanks for your reply. Yes, hoping Clive has something in his archives to help me. There are no markings on the machine and sadly, it did not come with a grassbox. I do have a spare Webb grassbox which I am currently having sand blasted and powder coated with the colour match coming from the handle retaining bolts. If no info on the decal is available I would be open to suggestions on what decal would suffice albeit not 100 per cent correct. Cheers. Rob

It looks to me that the grassbox transfer is in the typical Webb form of an oval  with the script logo still at this date. Red background with gold lining, but it would be good to know exactly the wording.

Is there any difference between machines described as De Luxe and Two Speed at this date ? I  seem to remember a later  battery electric machine with two speeds but I don't remember it being called that.

Hi Colin. I have attached a photo of the decal off my 1930s Webb 'Deluxe' merely to show the detail of the decal, nothing to do with the '2 Speed' .The photo of a page from a November 1952 Webb brochure shows and describes ;The Two Speed De Luxe 12" ', sadly the image of the decal on the grassbox is too small to see the details clearly. I have a feeling the Two Speed grassbox one will be similar. The gear cover one is a different matter of course, and clearly in two sections to allow for the ' power bulge '.

Hi Colin. Looks like the Whippet Mk 2 grassbox decal tgat is available through the club at £7 might do the trick then. Will hang on for Clives input before I put an order in. Cheers. Rob
